My plans for New Year’s Eve include snugging into my blanket and refreshing Viki to see if my new k-drama obsession, Just Between Lovers’, newest episode has been subtitled. Long story short, it follows 3 survivors of a mall that collapsed and how their fates are intertwined as they cope with the tragedy 10 years later. I haven’t done much research on the real story but apparently a mall had collapsed and it may be the inspiration for the drama. Back to spending my 2018 New Year’s Eve alone, I hoped for a different ending to my year but I don’t mind. I kind of wouldn’t mind getting dressed to the nines and going out dancing but everyone I know already has plans. If there is one thing I learned at a young age, it’s that I genuinely enjoy my own company so the night still looks sparkly to me.
In 2017, I accomplished many of my New Year’s resolutions but, I haven’t quite worked on learning a language. A couple of days ago I decided that I wanted to travel out of the country this spring, I’m just torn between 3 countries. As much as I want to learn a language, I want it to be the most useful language for where I want to travel. I don’t really know how I’m going to do the trip but I do know that I’m tired of staying stagnant and allowing my life to go by without living it in a way that makes me the happiest.
This year, I worked towards my fitness goals and was super happy with the lifestyle. I loved finding 10-15 minute HIIT and dance cardio workouts on YouTube. HIIT (High Intensity Interval) training can be difficult but it’s incredibly rewarding when you push yourself and finish the workout because you find that your stamina increases the more you keep up with your routine. I also loved trying new fitness classes like body flow, which mixes yoga, Tai-Chi, and pilates so you are relaxed, stretched, and you get to feel a small burn for a small portion of the class.
Aside from fitness, I managed to complete my degree. I am the most excited to be incorporating more creativity into my life since I believe creative expression is so important. In 2017, I learned about music production and initiated learning more about playing the piano, something I will continue since it will help me better create instrumentals and understand music theory. I also began doing vocal warmups because singing is enjoyable to me but I always worry about other’s opinions of my vocal ability, which I will never improve if I don’t exercise my vocals. Dancing is also something I always wanted to pursue because I always enjoyed it. I have found dance studios that I would love to begin attending and I have learned choreography from great instructors who post to YouTube like Dana Alexa and 1Million Dance Studio.
While I haven’t been active since I am trying to recover from injury, I have been continuing with what I can do and that’s: drinking a lot of water and trying to get into skincare.
2018 New Year’s Resolutions
For my 2018 New Year’s Resolution, I’d like to be more mindful. I would like to better deal with negativity and handle situations that I don’t enjoy with more peace. I’d like to be more intuitive and deal with conflict and stress better. Let’s just say I took a lot of deep breaths this year. While I was able to excel in my professional life and achieve good grades, I realize that my personal wellness was neglected in the process. I would like to continue all of the creative and active activities that I mentioned earlier because they help so much. I would also like to take care of myself better. I’d like to dress up more, drink more water, have spa days, and not neglect myself. I will save up and choose a country to visit. I would also love to work for a company that I believe in, one that does something that excites me. 2018 is looking optimistic for me :).
